The two friends entered the studio to work on the Weller-penned tracks, with Gallagher lending his percussive skills. "I haven't hired him, he came free," Weller told Absolute Radio (via Contactmusic). He continued, "He's a great drummer. He always keeps it fat and funky, you know, that's how we like it."
Weller was quick to praise Gallagher's musical talents. He said, "He's a good all-rounder, people don't realise what a good musician he is, he can plays keys, bass, all sorts really, harmonica, electric kettle, all sorts."
As reported by Spinner last year, Weller believes the demise of Oasis will help both Gallagher brothers. The singer said, "Creatively, I think the Oasis split is going to be a good thing. There's going to be some great things to come from both of them in the future."
Weller continued, "I'd definitely be up for collaborating with Liam and with Noel. I love them both equally and think they're both extremely talented in their own ways."
With Noel having entered the studio, it's now one down and one to go. So far the closest Weller and Liam Gallagher have got to a collaboration has come via the former frontman's fashion label Pretty Green -- Weller wore a jacket especially designed for him by the label for his V Festival appearance.
