"That was really the beginning of us playing together; the collaboration," Murphy explains in this behind-the-scenes bio-short about the band. A five-minute documentary that really shines a light on the men who form the Moondoggies, we're given a glimpse into their day-to-day jobs, their connection to each other and even, yes, their private love lives -- all as seen, filmed and filtered by director John Jeffcoat. It's one way to get to know a band, but if you're going to get your feet wet, you should probably just dive on in -- the water, here, is fine.
So after checking out the premiere of 'It's a Shame, It's a Pity' from the band's forthcoming album 'Tidelands' (due out Oct. 12 on Sub Pop imprint Hardly Art), be sure to screen the exclusive documentary clip as well. It was originally filmed for the MTV series '$5 Cover,' which focuses on the Seattle scene and which often highlights the Moondoggies. As Murphy says, it was shot in the band's "speakeasy" where they drink moonshine and lemonade. Check out the new Moondoggies song and the exclusive documentary clip below.
