"I had fun putting all my favorite pedals in to the video," Holmstom tells Spinner. "Luckily, I had a face mask on for the motorcycle shots because I kept cracking up -- I have no idea how to ride a motorcycle."
Like the project itself, the video was part happy accident, part surprise ending to experimental creative methods. Producer Jeff Dodge says that after filming the stop-animation segments, the motorcycle shots and additional B-roll, he learned that he had actually been working through an injury from a recent basketball game -- but even his mandatory recovery period played an unexpected role in the video's final edit.
"After finally visiting with my doctor, I realized I'd been shooting on a ruptured Achilles heel and would be laid up the next two months with limited mobility," Dodge tells Spinner. "But it was perfect timing, really, since I was able to put a little extra scrutiny into the texturization and 'plotline' of our work."
