Paul McCartney to Receive Kennedy Center Honor From President Obama

President Barack Obama seems to have caught Beatlemania and he just won't hide his love away. In December, the President will present the 33rd Annual Kennedy Center Honor to Sir Paul McCartney, in recognition of his impact on American culture over the course of his career. The ceremony -- which was hosted by Walter Cronkite for years, and then by Caroline Kennedy -- takes place at the Kennedy Center Opera House in Washington D.C.

NME.com reports that McCartney has said, "President Kennedy was such an icon for us in the '60s and his presidency was so inspiring for so many people that it is a great pleasure for this kid from Liverpool to receive this honor."

It appears that it'll also be a great pleasure for President Obama to present it to to him -- this past summer, McCartney treated Obama to a special performance at the White House, after the President awarded him the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song.
