According to the Daily Local News, Marley had removed pot plants from the basement of her suburban Philadelphia home after a housemate she was trying to evict called the police. The man, who had sublet a room, was trying to remove his washer and dryer from the basement and told cops that she was growing pot in the house. An investigation, in which she was observed in the backyard of the home standing next to a marijuana plant, led to her arrest on charges of manufacturing a controlled substance and tampering with physical evidence.
Chester County Assistant District Attorney Carlos Barraza, who is prosecuting the case, told the paper he had agreed to withdraw a mandatory one-year prison sentence for the amount of marijuana Marley had in her basement in return for Marley's guilty plea. According to the report, her attorney will request probation.
Marley was born on May 31, 1981, three weeks after her father died of cancer. Her mother, Yvette Crichton, was the last of several women that Bob Marley is officially recognized for fathering children with, aside from his widow, Rita.
Although Makeda had become a beneficiary of her dad's estate, she reportedly used up her proceeds. She had recently been working locally as a waitress.

"An investigation, in which she was observed in the backyard of the home standing next to a marijuana plant, led to her arrest..."
I think the problem here is that she was growing cannabis, in open view, in her back yard. I am ALL for growing cannabis for personal use, but you have to be a little more discrete than that if you're breaking the law, especially if you've got a former roommate who's upset with you.
Funny how a bill to ban fake marijuana is getting rushed through while HB1393, the bill to legalize MEDICAL marijuana has been collecting dust for a year and a half. This is corruption at its finest here folks. Our country is failing because of crap like this. We have gas lines exploding, water and sewer lines failing, bridges, buildings and dams collapsing, potholes that will swallow you car, but lets keep dumping over $40,000,000,000,(forty BILLION dollars) a year, yes PER YEAR down the drain. These are OUR tax dollars being wasted here folks. This is still happening because that same forty billion is used to spread fear and propaganda (lies) about the dangers of marijuana. This causes a HUGE distrust for our government and police forces when people who have been lied to for decades discover the truth. Propaganda and corruption, the only products America still manufactures for themselves, other than poorly educated students that is (the most recent study placed us either 42nd or 43rd in the WORLD for education). Makes me proud to be an American veteran, how about you?
If she happens to be Rastafarian or simply believes that the cannabis plant is divine, who is the U.S. government to question her choice of faith? Afterall, haven't humans been using and worshiping mind-altering plants throughout the ages? Why is it okay to celebrate the virtures of alcohol, when it is a far more dangerous DRUG by every standard and according to every statistic our government has gathered. Prohibition has failed because it was a bad idea in the first place, fueled by vested interests throughout society who stood to lose a lot of money when the industrial hemp plant replaced the need for petroleum, timber and countless other raw materials.. Now, in 2010, hemp is our only hope for sustainability yet remains somehow more taboo than "medical marijuana"!!! And the u.s. government wants to send Bob Marley's daughter to jail for growing less than a dozen plants, as if that could somehow stem the rising tide of public outrage over these twisted and extremely counter-productive prohibition laws.
