Boyle was set to sing the number with a 100-strong choir in Los Angeles for 'America's Got Talent,' but the former Velvet Underground star ordered his tune to be pulled at the last minute. A source told the Sun that Reed "didn't like" the performer that came to fame in the British version of the show.
Boyle was then left with two hours to rehearse a different number, but decided instead to cancel her appearance. An insider said, "She had flown to America to do this and was very excited. Her version of the song was perfect. You could tell she was upset. It's very disappointing for her."
Reed has not always been so precious about 'Perfect Day.' Since the song first appeared on his 1972 solo album 'Transformer,' it has since been covered many times, including versions by Duran Duran, Patti Smith and Kirsty MacColl with Evan Dando. Reed himself appeared on the 1997 charity release alongside the likes of Bono, David Bowie and Elton John that raised money for 'Children In Need'.
