"Call me Professor Henry Higgins," Rundgren joked to the Indy Star. The man behind the classic 1972 album 'Something/Anything?' will teach a class in late October and early November for students who are a part of the University's prominent Wells Scholars program. As the course is being coordinated by the school's rock history professor, it seems that Rundgren will be giving lessons about his time in the business.
The one-time Nazz frontman will also make a public lecture during his time on the Bloomington, Ind. campus. He intends to follow up that Oct. 28 address with a storytelling performance on Halloween.
In advance of Rundgren's teaching stint, the performer is in the midst of a US tour that focuses on his albums 'Todd' (1974) and 'Healing' (1981). When that wraps on Sept. 15 at the Mayo Center for the Performing Arts in Morristown, N.J., Rundgren will stop off at his home in Hawaii before embarking on a short tour of New Zealand, Australia and Japan on Sept. 24.

let us not forget that todd was the one and only who would produce meat loaf. they were supposidly to theatrical for any one else and would never make it in the rock and roll world. i guess he proved otherwise.

It's a crime that Todd isn't in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He was and still is an innovator in so many things from studio techniques-production, music video, internet music and live performance. Add to that his cutting edge music for the last 40 plus years and he should be there.

I saw Todd during a Walk down Abby Road tour some years back. He also produced a couple of Grand Funk Railroad albums, We're an American Band in 1973 and Shinin' On in 1974. Mark Farner has said that he thinks Todd is a musical genius.
September 12 2010 at 11:19 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI am certain that Todd Rungren was my first influence to great music of our time. When Hello It's Me came out, I was only five years old. But, it was that song that had a great effect on me. I remember learning the words and singing it every time it came on the radio. The melody was so calming.. It's still to this day a kind of "Where were you when this song was out?"type of piece.. Everyone I know has a story about that song, especially being from Philadelphia. It's no surprise that he is sharing his art and knowledge with young people...A truly great gift...

This is definitely what music for the future needs ,direction from a positive force within the industries dark past.Todd has always looked to offer an optimistic view even in the darkest of times. This is not the kindest industry and his will has prevailed for 4 decades . Shine on !
