Florence and the Machine Rock VMAs With 'Dog Days'

Florence and the Machine have become one of the breakout stories of 2010 -- and certainly the MTV VMA's recognized that by giving Florence Welch a spotlight performance of 'Dog Days Are Over,' which won a VMA earlier in the evening for Best Art Direction. Accompanied by a troupe of scantly-clad dancers, the red-headed Welch started off being shot from overhead and moved into something more tribal and ethereal.

Welch's breakout album 'Lungs' has unexpectedly taken a life of its own and for good reason -- it's a delightful mix of explosive, theatrical sounding pop with Welch's voice distinguishing itself from other British artists, male or female.

Released in the summer of 2009, the album reached number 1 on the UK album charts and 'Dog Days Are Over' received four VMA nominations, including Video of the Year and Best Rock Video.
