In Their Words: [The EP] 'Wax Rose Saturday' was named after a rose that I made out of wax wrappers from BabyBel cheese, and it happened to be a Saturday when the bulk of the beat was constructed. At first, I thought the imagery with this word combination was interesting and over time as other parts of the song came in, I felt that a cheap rose shape made from discarded cheese wrappers was an interesting commentary on my views of romance. I decided then that the song needed words -- lyrics that fit into what I was struggling with at that time. I had a clear message with feelings played out into words. I guess it's odd that I then felt such a strong lack of confidence in my voice and its recording that I decided to vocode and layer the vocals to the point of not truly being understandable. -- Brian Lindgren (aka Mux Mool)
