The success of 'Flamingo' is a coup for the Las Vegas artist who has long admitted his debt to British artists, notably New Order and the Cure. Elsewhere in the first chart following the announcement of this year's Mercury Prize winners, the XX were further rewarded when their eponymous debut re-entered the top 10 at No. 3.
A warm reception for Flowers' debut solo outing has led to increased activity on the live front. Having already announced a UK autumn tour, he has added an extra date at London' Brixton Academy on 19 October.
Beyond that, Flowers is already looking forward to reuniting with his bandmates and told the Daily Mail that working with producers on 'Flamingo,' namely Stuart Price, Daniel Lanois and Brendan O'Brien, had got him thinking.
"On Flamingo, I worked alongside producers with a view to using them with the Killers," he said. "It's possible we'll work with at least one of them again. We'll go back to our roots."
