"We've already started talking about plans for autumn of next year in Britain to do something fantastic; those plans are being worked on now. We know that we want to carry on making music," explained singer Terry Hall to BBC 6 Music.
Drummer John Bradbury confirmed that the Specials would record again though warned that fans should expect something different.
"Going forward is a healthy thing to do," he said. "We've discussed things that might take a different route. It'll be different to what we've done just because it has to be really. We can't keep doing the same set. We need to combine elements of what we've done before with elements of what we've always wanted to do. The opportunity has presented itself to move on from where we left off."
The plans for new material have been in the offing for some time. Speaking to Spinner in February, guitarist/vocalist Lynval Golding said, "It makes sense to get some new ideas together. It will happen."
