The results, which can be seen in the print edition of this week's NME magazine, see the band's stint at the Reading and Leeds festivals come out trumps as the moment of the year, reports the NME website.
Pete Doherty, Carl Barat and co. were also voted top in the 'Anthem of the Summer' category for their song 'Don't Look Back Into the Sun.'
Their return to the live stage for the Reading and Leeds festivals was also named as the 'Best Festival Comeback' of the year, beating of Blink-182 to the top, who also played slots at the festivals.
Despite gaining the popular vote on the poll, the Libertines seemingly failed to meet the massive expectation placed on them during the two August festivals, with Spinner not best impressed with their Leeds showing -- they "antalisingly displayed the chops of a band that could have lived up to the hyperbole, but for the most part they sounded like an under-rehearsed amateur garage band."
