Top High School Music Videos -- Readers Edition

Countdowns like our Top 10 School Music Videos can be fun ... or infuriating, if your favorite jam clip didn't make the cut. And when you speak, we listen. Here's another batch of A+ school-themed music videos, as enthusiastically suggested by you, the Spinner readers. You guys are so getting extra-credit participation points!

'Rock 'n' Roll High School'

The Ramones (1979)

The Ramones invade a high school as a fan girl's dreams come true in this musical comedy movie clip from 1979. Doesn't it fill you with '70s punk nostalgia ... even if you're too young to have experienced it in the first place?

'Hollaback Girl'

Gwen Stefani (2005)

Most of our school-day "you've been talking s---" confrontations didn't conclude with a b-a-n-a-n-a-s super kawaii parade, nor did our posse include Gwen Stefani, the entire marching band, drill team and cheerleading squad, or Pharrell, but we kind of wish they did.

'Smokin' in the Boys Room'

Mötley Crüe (1985)

If your school was a horrible Orwellian nightmare, you'd be asking to be excused to cut class with the Crüe, too.

'School's Out'

Alice Cooper (1972)

Here's Alice Cooper in a graduation cap and gown rocking out with the Muppets. Nothing says "school's out for summer" like a conga line. Nice unitard.

'Lip Gloss'

Lil Mama (2007)

It's probably Lil Mama's moves that are poppin' and not just the lip gloss, but first days are hard. Everyone needs a lucky/totemic/swagger reinforcement.

'Sister Christian'

Night Ranger (1984)

Night Ranger croon out a power ballad lamenting kids growing up too fast, but the video ends with Catholic schoolgirls running down the steps and tearing off their graduation gowns as nuns wave goodbye with evident sadness. Oh, the irony.

'We're Not Gonna Take It'

Twisted Sister (1984)

Your dad is a jerk. But we can totally fix that. Twisted Sister's Dee Snider to the rescue! This one's for the home-schooled kids, we guess.

'Back to School'

Deftones (2001)

The Deftones' high school music video is kind of like 'The Breakfast Club,' but it ends with a mosh pit.

'Centerfold'

J. Geils Band (1981)

Apparently, the J. Geils Band's high school classmates were exclusively twentysomethings in negligees. Night school, perhaps?

'If U C Jordan'

Something Corporate (2002)

Yes, the Beach Boys' 'Be True to Your School' would have been a cheery way to round off the Readers List, but they didn't really have music videos in 1963. So, here's a not-quite-as-oldie from Something Corporate on executing musical revenge on a bully. If only all bullies could be avenged with a hallway rock-out.

"Hit Me Baby One more Time" should be there, Britney's song about an abusive relationship and how young school girls find themselves in such relationships seem adicted! Alice cooper and the Muppets! Whoever put tha one in is a MUPPET!!!!!!!!!
