Weezer Plotting 'Blinkerton' Full-Album Trek

Fans pining for classic Weezer will be over the moon to learn that the band will embark on a multi-city "Blinkerton" trek later this year. Rivers Cuomo and his rock colleagues will dust off some vintage favorites when they play the group's landmark eponymous 1994 debut, aka 'The Blue Album,' and its 1996 cult classic 'Pinkerton' in back-to-back shows in select cities beginning this November.

While there are no confirmed dates as of yet, an official announcement asserts the band will play two shows in each market, explaining "on the first night Weezer will play 'The Blue Album' in its entirety, and the second night they will play 'Pinkerton' in its entirety."

If that's not enough, the band is already looking beyond its eighth studio album, 'Hurley' which just dropped this past Tuesday. In an interview with the A.V. Club, Cuomo says the group's next disc, which he erroneously refers to as the band's tenth, will counter the dark vibe of its new set.

"I was talking to the producer and he was saying, 'These songs sound totally different from 'Hurley,''" Cuomo explains. "'Hurley' was kind of dark, and the new songs sound like you're 16, riding your bicycle to get a Slurpee." As a writer, I had no idea -- I wasn't shooting for anything different. That's just what happened to come up."

As we await the official "Blinkerton" tour routing, the foursome will perform in the Southwest this Saturday at "Arizona Fall Frenzy" at Tempe Beach Park. For more tour dates, click here.
