"He delves into the classics with his incredibly gorgeous string arrangements and then you have the weight and the beauty and the vulnerability of his vocals over that," Crow tells Spinner. "He kind of takes you on a journey into '70s music, music that felt like it was true to what he was doing in the '70s and '80s, and sonically it's right there -- it's perfect. And then he leads effortlessly into really current sounding pop stuff, so I love the journey."
And you will too -- check out this exclusive premiere of 'Diamonds Made From Rain' off of Clapton's upcoming solo album, simply titled 'Clapton,' which is due out Sept. 28.

Everyone on the road says Clapton is such a nice man you can tell a man of character not bitter but better thru life and letting it work in him a beauty wrenched from all of lifes diademed lights and shadows Like Cheryl said the first cut is the deepest and the song is beautiful My new fave and I all the time love that oil song Cheryl sings on Detours the whole thing. Wish I had a dobro.

September 20 2010 at 7:54 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyClapton draws on alot of genres and is multi-talented : blues, rock, pop, r&b, jazz, world, reggae, country, folk. Why should he put himself in a box just because YOU think he should ?

No, no, no!
The lyrics suck.....sorry Eric....Realy, that was bad.
Crow a legend, are you 9 years old?
September 20 2010 at 3:57 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyGood to see an "old Rocker" has still got it. Great song, super guitar work, I went away, Eric I am back as a fan - - can not wait for the complete album. Most artist just sell download singles, this could be a breakthrough "album!" Good luck, you have earned it.

those harmonies sound great also.....especially at the end where they are layered over and over....beautiful!
I don't know what people are grousing about. The song is gorgeous and it's NOT listed as being a full-fledged duet. It is entirely possible that Sheryl and Eric wanted Sheryl's contribution to be as understated as it is.
