'Devastated' Drums Confirm Guitarist Adam Kessler's Departure

The Drums are officially a man light. The Brooklyn-based art-poppers have confirmed that guitarist Adam Kessler has quit the band via a statement on their website.

"There have been some questions as to recent events and we are sorry to say that Adam has left the Drums," reads the missive. "Jonny, Jacob and Connor are devastated and are keeping to themselves and with friends at this time. The band are currently on the road in America. Thank you for all of the support, it means a lot."

No word yet on whether the band plan to complete their scheduled US dates as a three-piece or recruit a stand-in axeman. The Drums' trek with support act Surfer Blood is slated to run through an Oct. 22 performance in Philadelphia, before the New Yorkers head across the Atlantic for a November and December European tour that includes a handful of UK stops.

The Drums formed in 2006 and released their self-titled debut album in June of this year. With the departure of Kessler the group's line-up now consists of frontman Jonathan Pierce, guitarist Jacob Graham and drummer Connor Hanwick.
