Much like the guitarist's legacy itself, the estate is super-sized and indulgent. The 5-bedroom, 6-bathroom manor has all the luxuries a rock star would want when not on tour (which, for Garcia, was rare): it has a solar-heated swimming pool, organic gardens and an entertainment center complete with a movie screen. The Zillow Blog reports that the large Mediterranean-style abode is "tucked inside 11 acres and is surrounded by breathtaking panoramic views of Mount Tamalpais, the Pacific Ocean and the Berkeley, Calif. skyline." Check out the photo at Zillow Blog for a glimpse of the crib.
According to the Associated Press, the person who owned the home following Garcia sold many of the original fixtures that the guitarist had installed, in an effort to raise money for charity. The next homeowner may also wish to auction off Garcia's fixtures, but for a lesser cause: hey man, property taxes are expensive!
