Fistful of Mercy, 'Father's Son' -- Song Premiere

This past February, singer-songwriters Ben Harper and Joseph Arthur met up with the son-of-a-Beatle, Dhani Harrison, in an L.A. studio for a three-day recording marathon. Perhaps Harrison was taking a cue he learned from childhood when his dad, George Harrison, joined some of his contemporaries -- Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Roy Orbison, Jeff Lynne -- to form the Traveling Wilburys. Or, perhaps, Harper got the idea from his peers when he saw Jim James, Conor Oberst, Mike Mogis and M. Ward all band together as Monsters of Folk. Regardless, as with those two projects, the chemistry is just right and the band -- this one called Fistful of Mercy -- ends up being somehow even greater than the sum of its parts.

Fistful of Mercy's debut album, 'As I Call You Down,' will drop on Oct. 5 and -- with pre-orders already underway at the band's official web store -- the first 300 copies will come with an autographed poster. For those that just can't wait, a limited-edition vinyl version will hit stores a week earlier, on Sept. 28. And for those that can't wait that long, you can download the self-titled song 'Fistful of Mercy' at the band's website in exchange for signing up for their mailing list or tweeting about the album.
