Five of the discs have been split into chronological order starting from 1989-1992 -- entitled 'The Pre-Dawn' -- and finishing with the present day's 'Matador Today.' The sixth CD meanwhile features thus far unreleased material from Matador's 10th anniversary concerts from New York City in 1999, and contains eight tracks from Pavement's show there as well as recordings of Come, Bardo Pand, Cat Power and Mogwai. Other notable inclusions appearing across the 99-track set include Teenage Fanclub's 'Everything Flows' from their debut LP 'A Catholic Education,' while Boards of Canada -- more widely recognised as a Warp artist -- appear courtesy of their track 'Telephasic Workshop.'
The limited-edition set comes packaged in a blue-grey foil-stamped linen-bound box with each CD in a custom digipack.Accompanying these will be an 85 page book documenting the history of the label containing essays, photos, ephemera, emails and more.As well as this, the boxset also includes 36 Matador poker chips across three values.
All proceeds from sales of the release will be going to three charities chosen by the label bosses, Jane Addams Hull House Association of Chicago, The Ali Forney Center< in New York and The Heart Institute at Children's Hospital in Los Angeles, with the artists also donating any royalties received.
