The Canadian outfit will collect their trophy at the Marshall Classic Rock Roll of Honour Awards on Nov. 10 in London at the Roundhouse venue. Previous recipients of the Living Legend title over its six year existence are Iggy Pop, Ozzy Osbourne, Jimmy Page, Cooper and Motorhead's growler Lemmy.
Rush are also nominated in the DVD/Film of the Year category for the documentary on their career, 'Beyond the Lighted Stage,' which has also won the Audience Award at the 2010 Tribeca Film Festival.
As reported in Spinner, the film features interviews with celebrity fans -- among them Billy Corgan, Kirk Hammett and Trent Reznor -- a sign of how highly this trio, often described as the world's biggest cult band, are regarded by rock royalty.
Writing on Classic Rock's web site, Scott Rowley --the magazine's editor-in-chief -- railed against how under-appreciated Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and Neil Peart have been. "Ridiculously, Rush haven't yet been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame -- so it's an honour to recognise their massive contribution to rock music at the Classic Rock Roll Of Honour."
