Ash and Bloc Party's Russell Lissack Attacked by Lion

Ash were in the country to play gigs at the Teatro Montecasino in Johannesburg and the Grand Arena in Cape Town with the Parlotones earlier this month, when Lissack and frontman Tim Wheeler went to a wild animal sanctuary.
Lissack was playing with a lion cub [pictured] when it went for him, drawing blood and leaving a nasty wound.
He was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated and have a tetanus booster where more dramas unfolded.
The band's spokesperson told Spinner that the hospital they went to was sealed off within hours of their visit after the deaths of two men from an unidentified virus.
Then to top things off, the band was involved in a car crash on the way back to the hotel. Luckily, no-one was hurt.
The band is now back in the UK and preparing for the release of its second compilation of the 'A-Z' singles released over the past year.
'A-Z Vol II' is out on Oct. 11.

Brilliant story! I'm a massive fan of Lissack's work but I have read this five times and it has not failed once to make me laugh. What a rubbish day.

Here's a much more sensationalized headline for AOL to use..."Mega Rock Star Mauled By Crazed Lion". For crissake, the guy was scratched by a friggin lion cub. Who are these guys anyway??

Leave it to AOL to come up with a sensational headline and have it turn out to be nothing. First of all, it's a band nobody gives a rat's ass about and secondly, IT WAS A CUB! Absolutely no credibilty from AOL. But I already knew that.

I hope the animal got a tetanus shot. I hate the way aol never distinquishes between genres of music so you waste time on these groups that have ten drugged out fans & nobody else ever heard of.
