Wow. I'm convinced that most of you haven't read the article at all. This drive was not started by Steve Albini or even with the permission of Steve Albini. In fact, the individual who started said it would probably be an embarrassment to him (Albini).

Also, nowhere in the article does it mention Steve Albini having money trouble. Not. One. Place. Only that the individual who started the drive felt that the mortgage should be fully paid off by now so that Albini has full legal ownership of the studio.

I agree that the there are much more important charities to be giving to, and the people who donated may deserve a tongue lashing. But all of this "THIS IS ABSURD, ALBINI SHOULD FILE FOR BANKRUPTCY LIKE THE REST OF US" nonsense is utterly fascinating in how stupid and uninformed it is; please, take the time to read the article before you start to kick and scream.

And no, I'm not an Albini fan. I've tried both Shellac and Big Black several times but could never really get into either. Though he has supported a huge number of bands, and I do appreciate that.

Oh and what fool ran the article on this in the first place, it's not even news worthy in my opinion.

"2000 people, $115.00 each, and it's done" ..WOW!!! This is rude, obnoxious & arrogant of how he has said it. It shows that he does not have a heart or any sort of thoughts for people or fans who are having a hard times with this economy, who may also having a hard times make ends meet. A minimum average earner have to work over 13 hours to make that $115.00. Does it make any sense? Very disgusting ..

I think he's got a lot of nerve. People have their own bills to pay without having to send money to pay his. Get a second job just like a lot of people. It's not like it's for a good cause.

I don't see why people are getting so bent out of shape. If you dont agree, then dont donate. Steve has recorded some great albums, like Nirvana's In Utero. I would help him out just for the fact that hes a great producer, and should keep doing what hes doing. Maybe some day he can return the favor and record my band, i would be honored.

This is the kind of thing doing more shows might help with, you know. (Ref: Steve Albini does fewer shows than our favorite artist.)
