Wilco to Start Work on Eighth Album

Wilco fans will have something to celebrate this fall as the Chicago-based, Jeff Tweedy-fronted band gets started on its eighth proper studio album. Guitarist/keyboardist Pat Sansone let the news slip to the L.A. Times while he was plugging the upcoming release of 'Once Around,' the fourth album by the Autumn Defense, his project with longtime Wilco bandmate John Stirratt.

"When I get back toward the end of [the] month, we're getting back together to start working, to start the first writing sessions for the record," Sansone revealed. "We've done a little bit of brainstorming, but the real work is going to begin at the end of [the] month."

Upholding its reputation as one of the hardest working bands in rock, Wilco -- on a short break after a year and a half of touring behind 2009's 'Wilco (The Album)' -- seem determined to have a new record ready for 2011 release.

Meanwhile, Sansone is also dropping a new photo book this week. Called '100 Polaroids', the project collects pictures of his bandmates that he snapped since joining the group in 2004.
