"The songs came together pretty quickly, once I knew we were making the record," McCaughan says. "Once we decided that, writing went really fast. Learning the songs went fast as well. The fact that we learned them fast and went right into the studio gives the record an energy, a fresher feeling and more energy in general."
Throughout their 21-year history, Superchunk have excelled at delivering power-pop hooks with insightful witticisms, and 'Majesty Shredding' is no different. "We wanted it to sound pretty relentless from start to finish in the way it sounds and the pacing and everything," McCaughan says. "When you're making a record once every nine years, you want to make it something that people notice and it's fun to listen to."
