LCD Soundsystem Closes Long First Day of Treasure Island Fest

James Murphy deserved better. By the time LCD Soundsystem came on to headline the Bridge Stage at the end of a long day at Treasure Island Music Fest in San Francisco, CA, the crowd had peaked. They had spent their energies braving the blustery winds of the San Francisco Bay and maxing out their glow stick twirling to Deadmau5 and Miike Snow.

Nearly half the crowd had headed for the shuttles by the time LCD Soundsystem had gotten through the first six songs of their set, including recent classic All My Friends,' 'Drunk Girls' and 'You Wanted a Hit' from their latest album 'This Is Happening.' Perhaps their fans were eager to get an early start on day two of the festival.

"We're used to him playing in short shorts," Murphy joked, referring to his drummer Pat Mahoney's long pants. The crowd barely reacted and the band launched into the song 'I Can Change.' Unfortunately, LCD Soundsystem couldn't change the cold, tired crowd to which they played their hearts out.

you guys are harsh. LCD was the best show at pitchfork by far, this was probably just an off night.

I agree.. I saw them at ACL last weekend and their show was so much more personable and it had more energy.

I have to agree with Eliana - the reason I left early wasn't because I was cold, but its because LCD Soundsystem had no energy whatsoever when they were onstage. Did you hear the rendition of Daft Punk is Playing at my House? It was awful! I guess it goes to show that LCD is helped out a *lot* with studio FX. I hate to say this, but they were easily the worst band performing yesterday.

That's because LCD was terrible !! Especially compared to Deadmau5 !They should have opened with something more up beat. I was so disappointed. Their old music was so much better.

Sounds like you might have been tired. The crowd had tons of energy.

BTW Indio, CA? I saw LCD Soundsystem play last night at Treasure Island Music Festival in San Francisco, CA.

Were you at the right show?
