As festival headliners, Belle and Sebastian played a crowd-pleasing set full of their infectious poppy ditties, perfectly balanced between songs from 'Write About Love,' their first release in five years, and their extensive back catalog. Songs from the new album like 'I Didn't See It Coming' and 'I'm Not Living in the Real World' blend the sound of Belle and Sebastian's early innocence on albums like 'Dear Catastrophe Witness' and 'If You're Feeling Sinister' with grown-up lyrics about love and adulthood. The band played plenty of oldies as well including 'Like Dylan in the Movies' and for baseball fans, 'Piazza, New York Catcher.'
By the end of a sprinkle-soaked, blustery evening, Belle and Sebastian's many San Francisco fans felt like they had been charmed by one of their own.
