"'Ventriloquizzing' comes from the idea of people speaking for you, like adults do with babies," singer-guitarist David Best said in a release. "Dummies are thought of as creepy; they can reflect a split personality. And that relates to the idea of being in a group, where you are presented as one entity, even though everyone comes from different angles and thinks about one thing very differently from the others."
To demonstrate their point, the band had four such doppelgangers created, with the intention of sending them as fill-ins for photo shoots and even videos. As for the album itself, the quartet brought a new producer on board who, safe to say, is certainly no dummy: Thom Monahan (Vetiver, Devendra Banhart, Au Revoir Simone). I just got finnished listening to this new album and I love it! Their last album had quite a few moments when you found yourself bopping your head and smiling, and this record is full of them. This album is great!
