Ben Gibbard and Zooey Deschanel Perform at the National League Playoffs

After Death Cab for Cutie rocked this year's Seattle Mariners home opener, the group's frontman Ben Gibbard made it to the playoffs yesterday. Gibbard, a certified baseball nut, performed 'The Star-Spangled Banner' before game three of the National League Championship Series.

Gibbard's spouse, famed actress and She and Him singer Zooey Deschanel, also took a turn at the mic, rendering her own version of 'God Bless America' during the seventh-inning stretch. The San Francisco Giants blanked the Philadelphia Phillies 3-0 in the game, taking a two games to one lead in the NLCS.

As previously reported, Death Cab are at work on the follow-up to 2008's 'Narrow Stairs.' The new album is expected to be released sometime in 2011.
