Amused by the level of enthusiasm, Grubbs considered adding more fun to the mix by jumping off the stage. "I was totally planning on stage-diving tonight but you guys aren't cramped enough," he joked. "I'll land on the three skinny girls in front. I know I'm thin but no."
Stage theatrics aside, the New York band played songs from their album 'Almost Everything I Wish I'd Said the Last Time I Saw You...,' which their fans knew every word to. Grubbs only needed to play the opening chord of 'Dance So Good' before one girl immediately started screaming the lyrics to the top her lungs -- prompting Grubbs to stop singing midway through the song and let the crowd fill in the words.
With the band's fall tour only a few days away and to celebrate their spot in CMJ this year, Wakey!Wakey! surprised everyone with a new song entitled, 'Great Love Lake.' Composed with the elaborate piano arrangements and two-part pop harmonies the band has become known for, it gave the night's concertgoers a new morsel to chew on -- and something else to scream about.
