Fans of Guided by Voices who live in New York -- or are willing to travel -- now have some serious celebrating to do this New Year's Eve. According to BrooklynVegan, the recently reunited indie rock legends have just announced a special show at Irving Plaza on Dec. 31.
Tickets for the newly added gig, which will mark GBV's second Big Apple stop this year, will cost $72 and go on sale Saturday, Nov. 6 at 10AM ET. A day later, the Dayton, Ohio heroes will hit Terminal 5 for a show that was supposed to signify the final night of their successful eight-week tour.
For now, the appended New Year's event appears to be a special, one-off performance. But with most of November and December wide open, there's certainly room for Robert Pollard and company to shoehorn in more dates, should he feel compelled.
Conjecture aside, the reunion tour has been jam-packed with vintage tunes like 'Exit Flagger,' 'Queen of Cans and Jars,' 'Dodging Invisible Rays' and 'Gold Star for Robot Boy.' With their sets reaching up to 40 songs, we can only guess how far into 2011 Guided by Voices will play at this special show.
