Attached to the project is Kenny Ortega, whose career in the music-film adaptation genre is rather impressive, as is his work with Jackson's material. He directed 2009's 'This Is It' film that looked at the last days of Jackson's rehearsal for what would've been a 50-night stand at London's O2 Arena. Other highlights of Ortega's career include the 'High School Musical' series and working as a choreographer on 'Dirty Dancing.'
In adapting the song to film, also attached is writer Jeremy Garelick, who found success with 'The Hangover.' The plot is said to center around horror legend Vincent Price, who performs the zombie voiceover during the song.
Since Jackson's untimely death in June 2009, he's gone on to be one of the most profitable posthumous artists ever. While purists might lament at the thought of mucking up possibly the best music video of all time, audiences around the world will continue to have a fascination with the "King of Pop" for a long time. For many, anything new from the Michael Jackson camp is always welcomed.
With that in mind, Deadline also reports that a Cirque de Soleil production surrounding Jackson's material and a biopic of his early days from Ivan Reitman's production company are in the works.
