"Many of the great indies have disappeared in recent years, but Record Store Day is giving us yet another chance to show appreciation to this wonderful endangered slice of Americana," Drive-By Truckers singer Patterson Hood said in a statement.
A Jimi Hendrix holiday EP called 'Merry Christmas... And a Happy New Year' and a special edition of George Harrison's 1970 'All Things Must Pass' triple album are among the unique items. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Iron and Wine and Cee-Lo are also part of the initiative.
