After ending a four-year split in 2009, Kansas City punk quintet the Get Up Kids are releasing a new album, 'There Are Rules.' Due Jan. 25, 2011, the 12-song set is the band's first new album since 2004's 'Guilt Show.'
"This record came together really organically," frontman Matt Pryor said in a statement. "We'd throw out an idea and if it didn't work after 30 minutes we'd scrap it and move on to another one. We all wrote together really spontaneously and then fleshed it out with Ed [Rose, producer] in the studio."
Recorded in their hometown, 'There Are Rules' also marks the band's inaugural release on their new label, Quality Hill Records. "We had a really great relationship with Vagrant but we felt that with the proverbial rebirth of the band we wanted to start our own label, do everything ourselves like we did in the beginning," Pryor said. "Quality Hill is a historic neighborhood in Kansas City. It's not far from where we first formed the band. It seems like an appropriate name for the label."
The track list for 'There Are Rules' is below:
1. 'Tithe'
2. 'Regent's Court'
3. 'Shatter Your Lungs'
4. 'Automatic'
5. 'Pararelevant'

I can't wait for the new album! I've been a fan for a decade, and have seen them in concert three times (including their "last" show). I was so excited when they reunited and really hope this album will fulfill the ultra-high expectations I have!
