"We just want to confirm the rumors," Blind Melon posted on their online forum. "Yes, the band has a few shows coming up ... The future of the band is still up in the air. The guys are taking it very slow, this time around."
But they've always kinda taken it slow. Blind Melon first officially disbanded in 1999, although, in function, it could be said that they effectively broke-up in 1995 following the accidental overdose of frontman Shannon Hoon. They reformed in 2006 with new vocalist Travis Warren (pictured), however things fell apart again just two years later when Warren departed -- either he left or he was fired, depending on which story you choose to believe. Yes, it's like that.
Back in January, drummer Glen Graham (also pictured) posted a MySpace message soliciting lead singer auditions. "We are still very interested in finding an appropriate addition to this band," he wrote. "We know you're out there."
If that's true, they haven't found him yet -- "Travis will be singing," at least for now, according to the band's current statement.
The three confirmed shows will take place on Nov. 27 in Aspen, Colo. (the Aspen Festival), Nov. 28 in Denver (Bluebird Theatre) and, as mentioned, Feb. 4 in Albuquerque (Hard Rock & Casino). To be continued...
