Adele Gets Her 'Revenge' on New Album With Rick Rubin -- Exclusive Video

As Adele has learned, winning a Grammy and selling millions of albums doesn't make relationships any easier. In fact, much of her forthcoming second album, '21,' is about the British singer's life after a tumultuous relationship.

The album's bluesy, anthemic first single, 'Rolling in the Deep,' showcases Adele's attitude towards her ex and how she's hoping to get a bit of "revenge" with her success. "I was angry!" she tells Spinner. "I was really, really angry with with my personal life up to about a year ago. I've grown up a little as well, and I like to think I've blossomed into who I'm going to become. I'm not really willing to be walked all over like I was with the relationship that the first record is about. I have the upper hand now, so yeah, the whole record is a bit bitter."


Due in January in the UK and in February in the States, '21' was produced in part with Rick Rubin. As Adele reveals, the legendary producer said he wants to follow up her Grammy win for best new artist with a trophy for the top album of the year. With a grown-up sound and a newfound aggressiveness, we're betting that Adele could wind up making that dream a reality.
