Outgoing Florida Governor Charlie Crist will be leaving office in January but has promised to revisit the case after fans of the singer launched a petition back in 2007 to examine the details of the case once again.
Speaking to Washington blog the Hill, Mr Crist said, "Candidly, it's something that I haven't given a lot of thought to, but it's something I'm willing to look into in the time that I have left. Anything is possible."
Dave Diamond, a TV producer from Ohio, kicked off the campaign to clear Morrison's name and he remains optimistic that the conviction can be overruled. He said, "This is the last chance Gov. Crist will have with the board to make good on his 2007 commitment to give this longstanding case a fair review and a vote in favour for or against the special posthumous pardon request.
"We are still hopeful that he will see this case through. He's the only governor in Florida that's even acknowledged this effort at all, and we appreciate his time towards this matter."
Florida's Board of Executive Clemency is scheduled to meet in Dec. 9 -- the day after what would have been Morrison's 67th birthday.

I was at that concert. He was not mentally disturbed. There is a story to this, which I know, but I'll explain after the poor guy gets cleared. It's never too late or too trivial to clear someone's good name. He was railroaded in so many ways! I knew the promoters. They screwed up this guys whole career, for greed!
Little quackus
Why are they wasting time on this, donât they have anything better to do? Besides what good is a pardon going to do for this dead mentally disturbed drug addict?
