In addition, Potter contributed to that episode's incidental score. "There was all sorts of silliness going on in the show," she says. "There was a bitch fight and a love scene where one girl was wooing a married man. It was easy for me to get silly and quirky. It was all in a quick span of time. It was really inspiring."
The Vermont native got another fall TV boost via VH1, which spotlighted Potter and her band, the Nocturnals, in its 'You Oughta Know' section. This high profile tube activity caps a year that saw Potter release her self-titled third album; perform a duet with Kenny Chesney, 'You And Tequila,' for his album, 'Hemingway's Whiskey'; and get a shout-out by one of the world's biggest teen heartthrobs.
"Joe Jonas mentioned us on his Twitter," Potter says, laughing. "Then it was all over the Internet that I'm dating him." The two are label mates and met at the Hollywood Records HQ. "He said we rock."
Potter and the Nocturnals return to the road for a stretch of tour dates in December that will conclude with their annual holiday shows in their hometown of Burlington, Vt. -- and send them through some very snow territory. "Being from Vermont, this is my natural place," Potter says of traveling through New England in the winter. "The snowy trips are great, as long as the driver knows how to drive in snow. That's all I care about." And if the driver doesn't know how, she'll show him, right? "Exactly."
