The Canadians were two-thirds of the way through a career-spanning set when main protagonist Kevin Drew halted proceedings to introduce the current Cribs man, saying, "I've played with a lot of great musicians and friends in this band over the years... I'm delighted to invite on stage a man who I met a few years ago and he's been a big inspiration of mine."
Marr then walked on to disbelieving cheers before helping the group launch into 'Cause = Time' from 2002 album, 'You Forgot it in People.' An energetic set then finished with riotous instrumental, 'Meet Me in the Basement.'
And it was in the basement of the Leeds University building where Les Savy Fav's Tim Harrington ripped apart the venue -- almost literally when hanging from a beam by his microphone cable. The bearded front man walked on stage dressed appropriately in graduation gown and mortarboard, but these garments didn't remain on for long as he flew into the crowd -- and even upstairs towards the bar -- on multiple occasions.
Other highlights during the day included stellar performances from Esben & the Witch and Liars, the latter culminating with a glorious run of tracks from this year's 'Sisterworld' album.
