The reason for the 68-year old's treatment is unknown but in a statement issued by Franklin, the singer said that the operation had been "highly successful," BBC News reports.
Fans had gathered outside the hospital to stage a prayer vigil for Franklin on Wednesday night , Dec. 1
A grateful Franklin praised medical staff who "were blessed by all the prayers of the city and the country."
As previously reported by AOL Music, in November Franklin cancelled all her public commitments for the next six months "at the insistence" of her doctors. Sadly for fans it means the "Queen of Soul" won't be able to play her home-town Christmas show in Detroit later this month. A statement issued at the time said the singer was "very anxious to get back on the road to perform for her fans."
This latest health issue follows an incident in August when Franklin fell breaking two ribs.

My guess is the Queen got a lap band, or gastric bypass.I am surprised she waited so long.
