The song, written during their union, laments its inevitable end. No doubt about it -- it's an anthem for the broken-hearted. It also helped propel Crosby, Stills and Nash to international stardom, charting at No. 21 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and even clinching a spot on Rolling Stone's list of 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
Collins and Stills recently reunited -- musically at least -- to miraculously pull off what so few former lovers could ever do: sing a duet about their failed relationship. With tender lyrics such as, "I could've loved you better ... didn't mean to be unkind," the song is both bittersweet and haunting.
The track, a Tom Paxton cover entitled 'Last Thing On My Mind,' comes from Collins' latest release, 'Paradise,' and it is, finally, a suitable response to 'Suite: Judy Blue Eyes' -- 41 years later. Hey, time might heal all wounds, but time still takes time.
