Sarah Jaffe is currently on the road with Ben Weaver in support of her debut album, 'Suburban Nature,' which features the mesmerizing singer-songwriter's latest single, 'Clementine.' Jaffe is trekking from Pittsburgh, Pa. to Columbus, Ohio over the next week, joined by Robert Gomez (guitar, accordion, drums) and Scott Danbom on piano.
Here, the 23-year-old talks about the grueling two-day drive from her hometown (Denton, Texas), which was brightened by an impulse shopping spree at a Kentucky gas station. Find out what kind of roadside treasures Jaffe scored, and check out personal photos from her journey in her first Road Report below.
Hello from the back of a van!
My band members and myself left Denton, TX on Nov. 31 and drove about 7 hours. Had some sleep in Memphis. And today, this very chilly first day of December, we have a painfully long drive to Columbus. Our first show with Ben Weaver, starting our tour with him, is in Pittsburgh. Clearly not close to Denton. SO, we split this trek into 2 days of driving... hence the staying in Memphis and Columbus tonight.

Ate some Panera, went into a food coma in the back of the van. Made a few manic purchases in a Louisville, Kentucky gas station such as a GIANT KITTY activity book. Haven't decided yet if I will keep this or make a profit. Definitely worth more than the $5 I spent on it.

Also bought a nice little hat in the gas station with a built-in bottle opener on the bill. Very excited for this tour. It'll be nice and chilly, but luckily I brought 2 other humans with me in case I need extra warmth, or affirmation. Scott Danbom and Robert Gomez will be joining me, other Denton natives. My turn to drive. See you in Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh!
