White produced Jackson's forthcoming release, 'The Party Ain't Over,' and is releasing it on Third Man Records, in partnership with Nonesuch, come January 25. Recorded in White's studio in Nashville, the album features an impressive roster of studio hands, including two additional members of the Raconteurs -- Jack Lawrence and Patrick Keeler -- along with My Morning Jacket's Carl Broemel and others.
No word on who else will perform in the Third Man House Band but you can bet dollars to donuts that they'll rock. Jackson, who is credited as being the first woman to ever cut a true rock 'n' roll track, crossed over from country music in 1958 thanks to the support and gentle prodding of her friend Elvis Presley. Four decades later, it looks like White plans on taking her on a new journey into the world of indie rock. Or something cool like that.
A full tour will be announced in the coming weeks. In the meantime, Wanda Jackson and the Third Man House Band featuring Jack White will perform at the Music Hall in Brooklyn on Jan. 21 and at the El Ray Theatre in Los Angeles on Jan. 23.
