Sleater-Kinney's Carrie Brownstein and Fred Armisen Tease New Comedy Show

Since Sleater-Kinney went on an indefinite hiatus, guitarist and songwriter Carrie Brownstein has remained busy honing her comedy chops with 'Saturday Night Live' cast member Fred Armisen. The two have recorded multiple digital comedy shorts under the name Thunderant, and the bits have built up enough of a cult following that the act is headed to television for a new show called 'Portlandia.' The program debuts at 10 PM ET on Jan. 21 on IFC, but the network has already let loose a few preview trailers to whet fans' appetites.

The premise of the show appears to be Brownstein and Armisen playing multiple roles that satirize the city of Portland, Ore. Brownstein, a longtime resident of the city, also recorded a new theme song for 'Portlandia' that serves to both show affection and mock the city's stereotypical residents such as the unemployed, coffee aficionados, empty intellectuals, vintage clothing fans and more.

While Brownstein and Armisen are certainly taking the lead as far as acting, the program will also sport cameos from Kyle MacLachlan, Jason Sudeikis, Heather Graham, Selma Blair and Aubrey Plaza.
