"We can't make the announcement yet, because we're 'dating,'" Sorum allegedly joked in an interview with the Pulse of Radio. "We haven't consummated the relationship."
Fair enough. But secrecy leads to speculation and, so far, the three top candidates are believed to be Myles Kennedy (Alter Bridge), Frankie Perez (Scars on Broadway) and Royston Langdon (Spacehog). Apart from all having interesting, rock 'n' roll names, Perez and Langdon are said to have formally auditioned, while Kennedy currently tours with Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash's solo band.
We'll have to wait to find out the new guy's actual identity, but you can bet dollars to donuts that it won't be Axl Rose. We're, um... pretty sure the feeling is mutual.
