Damon Albarn to Score Short Film Based on Sister's Book

On the heels of details about the new Gorillaz iPad album, which will be released on Christmas, and rumors that Blur might actually record a new LP, Damon Albarn will continue to uphold his impressive work ethic by scoring a short film known as 'The Boy in the Oak.' The movie will be based on a children's book penned by Albarn's sister, Jessica.

In addition to Albarn's music, the film adaptation of the story will be narrated by actor Jude Law, according to the Playlist. Luke Losey -- who has worked on videos for acts like Orbital and Mercury Rev -- will reportedly serve as director.

Expect a spring 2011 debut for the film, which, like the book, "centers on a young boy who lives in the cottage with a big old oak tree out back. He doesn't really care about the tree and certainly doesn't know it is enchanted, but all that changes as the fairies living in the oak are about to cast a spell that will change his life forever."

As previously reported, Albarn is also keeping busy with his involvement in the 2012 London Olympic Games and has recently pondered retiring Gorillaz, his world famous cartoon band, co-founded with Jamie Hewlett.
