Madonna Gives Christmas Gifts to 'Her' Many Orphans in Malawi

According to People.com, Madonna sent presents -- including chocolates, toys and clothing -- to the orphans, with signed Christmas cards inside. She also sent a note with the boxes that read, in part, "To my Malawi children on Christmas and Boxing Day. I wish I was with you. See you soon, M."
Additionally, at Madonna's prompting, one of the orphanages invited more than 1,000 villagers to come celebrate at an open-air party, where not only orphans but also local under-privileged children all received clothes. No word on weather Madonna's infamous cone bra was included, but she'll have the opportunity to check out the kids in their new digs this spring when she visits the country with her fellow globetrotting superhero, Bono.

@Benjy Eisen: This was a decent article(grammer mistake aside) about a star doing something nice for children in need. Why did you have to be such an a**hole with your little cone bra comment? Come on, if you want to be taken seriously as a journalist then grow up.

January 01 2011 at 1:09 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI have always felt that a child in this country has no more, or less, value than a child in any other country. I don't think it is important who or where you help - they are all deserving. The important thing is that you do help.

Bless the children who clearly have already lost nearly everything. Shame on those of you who would begrudge ANY child, regardless of ethnicity, a good Christmas.

Did we run out of poor kids here in the United States?Last I checked, since I live less than a mile from a major city, there are plenty of poor kids here, too. HEY CELEBS!KIDS HERE IN THE US HAVE NEEDS, TOO!

helping out here.
The reality is that children int he U.S. have FAR more support than those in other countries. We have food kitchens, shelters, social service programs and schools. Even the poorest children here are entitled to a free education. While our foster system is not stellar, it is still light years ahead of what is available in many countries. Why on earth would anyone judge someone who is sharing SO much with the poorest children of the world??? Kudos to Madonna, and bless the children.
