As previously reported by Spinner, the drummer collapsed on stage during a gig in Philadelphia on Sept. 15, and was later diagnosed with a brain tumor.
The Charlatans' singer Tim Burgess has revealed that Brookes has now received the "all-clear" and admits their end of year performance will be an "emotional" one.
"Jon is doing really well," Burgess said. "I texted him last night and he said he had got the all-clear and the cancer is gone. It's really crazy what happened. It still doesn't feel that real to us. Obviously, it does to him. It's amazing and a big deal to be asked to play what is the biggest party of the year. It means we're going to end the year in style."
Burgess went on to reveal that Jon's return performance with the group would be nothing less than phenomenal. "It's going to be Jon's first gig back since September so that's going to be an emotional time for us as well. I think it is going to be an allround brilliant evening for everybody. It's going to be epic."
It won't be the first journey back to the kit for Brookes however, with the drummer playing an encore with the band back in October.
