Having enjoyed a fairly hype-filled 2010 since cutting their teeth at SXSW early in the year, the band spent a few weeks in autumn last year holed up in London's RAK and Miloco Hoxton Square Studios where they were joined by Dan Grech on the production duties. Grech's noted credits include engineering on Radiohead's 'In Rainbows,' as well as work with Howling Bells, the Kooks and, more recently, singles for Chew Lips and the forthcoming debut for Penguin Prison.
'What Did You Expect...' will feature 11 tracks, including the previously released singles 'Wreckin' Bar' and 'Blow it Up', along with 'If You Wanna', which featured as part of the group's performance on 'Later ... With Jools Holland' back in November.
Ahead of the LP, the Vaccines are set to storm the NME's Awards Tour for almost the entirety of February, alongside Magnetic Man, Everything Everything and Crystal Castles. The tour will visit Stoke first (Feb. 1), ahead of Glasgow (Feb. 3), Manchester (Feb. 4 and 5), Newcastle (Feb. 7), and finishing up in London's Brixton Academy (Feb. 19). Their latest single 'Post Break-Up Sex' is due to hit the shops on Jan. 24, shortly before a further sold out date at London's King's College.
Both the album and this newest offering are the band's first for release through Columbia Records. The album's tracklisting looks like this:
1. 'Wreckin' Bar'
2. 'If You Wanna'
3. 'A Lack of Understanding'
4. 'Blow it Up'
5. 'Wetsuit'
6. 'Norgaard'
7. 'Post Break-Up Sex'
8. 'Under Your Thumb'
9. 'All In White'
10. 'Wolf Pack'
11. 'Family Friend'
