Flaming Lips' Steven Drozd Scores 'Heart Is a Drum Machine' Documentary

What happens when the Flaming Lips' Steven Drozd teams up with Tool's Maynard James Keenan for a rendition of Elton John's 'Rocket Man'? Lips disciples and curiosity seekers alike will find out on Jan. 18 when Drozd releases his official score to the documentary 'The Heart Is a Drum Machine,' Pitchfork reports.

The DVD for the film, which explores the human connection to music, counts appearances by Spoon's Britt Daniel, Modest Mouse's Isaac Brock, Jimmy Eat World's Jim Adkins and actors like Fairuza Balk, Elijah Wood and Jason Schwartzman. Aside from Keenan and Drozd, the documentary also features Lips frontman Wayne Coyne, Fishbone's Norwood Fisher, X's John Doe and Limp Bizkit guitarist Wes Borland.

'The Heart Is a Drum Machine,' the latest work from the producers of the feature documentary 'Moog,' sees the aforementioned musicians grapple with the question, "What is music?" The film is available on DVD now.
