The English musician was reportedly approached by Prince William to showcase his talents at the couple's Buckingham Palace reception, following the April 29 nuptials ceremony. The pair selected the 'Only Mama Knows' singer as their "No. 1 choice." McCartney has been asked to perform several songs during the event, none of which have been disclosed yet.
Prince William and Kate Middleton will exchange vows at Westminster Abbey in a service that begins at 11AM. The couple will be married by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams.
While the Beatles legend will no doubt perform a slew of hits for the married set, he won't indulge in a dinner if meat is the main course. McCartney, 68, a vegetarian, recently wrote a letter to India's Prime Minister Manmohan Singh asking to designate Jan. 12 -- the anniversary of PETA India's founding -- as "a day to celebrate vegetarianism and compassion towards animals."
