The English musician was reportedly approached by Prince William to showcase his talents at the couple's Buckingham Palace reception, following the April 29 nuptials ceremony. The pair selected the 'Only Mama Knows' singer as their "No. 1 choice." McCartney has been asked to perform several songs during the event, none of which have been disclosed yet.
Prince William and Kate Middleton will exchange vows at Westminster Abbey in a service that begins at 11AM. The couple will be married by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams.
While the Beatles legend will no doubt perform a slew of hits for the married set, he won't indulge in a dinner if meat is the main course. McCartney, 68, a vegetarian, recently wrote a letter to India's Prime Minister Manmohan Singh asking to designate Jan. 12 -- the anniversary of PETA India's founding -- as "a day to celebrate vegetarianism and compassion towards animals."

January 16 2011 at 1:20 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyThe blokes no credibility or artistic integrity left....so why not? Become fully like 'Sir' Cliff, or fat Reg which is the way hes been going for years now. Lennon must be turning in his grave. Give me artists like Weller or Bowie ( who turned down awards from these parasites) and Elvis Costello.

Perhaps others declined for all we know. Perhaps Elton John who just had a son via a surrogate is too busy or his presence is about a sad trajic event that would be hard for everyone to get past. Everyone respects Paul. He has been knighted by the Queen and he is enjoyed by William and Kate so what's to bicker about?

Prince Williams and Princess Kate presents a refreshing spirit for Great Britian.
They have nice teeth for Brits.
January 09 2011 at 12:47 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyHonestly? Probably because he is a fellow Brit and a knight, and they knew he would say yes. When I saw the teaser for the article I thought it was going to be someone like Susan Boyle, or the rock group (can't think of their name) that was Princess Diana's favorite group. If it were me, I'd pick Barbra Streisand, but she probably wouldn't say yes no matter how much money I threw at her!
